About Dressmaker

Dressmaker is a sewing simulation game where you take measurements, prepare patterns, choose fabrics, and turn them into finished dresses. Instead of treating sewing as a simple crafting activity, the game introduces practical details such as adjusting a dress form, following fabric grain, cutting along the bias, and calculating how much material a design requires.

How To Play Dressmaker

Start every commission by measuring the client and setting the dress form so the fabric will fit perfectly. When your measurements are done, lay down the pattern pieces on your selected fabric. Placement is important: certain pieces need to be placed with the grain of the fabric some pieces need to be placed on the bias.

Cut the pieces and go through the sewing procedure to assemble the garment. varying textiles need varying amounts of material, thus you also get a reason to plan out your purchases wisely in the game. You may be willing to spend extra for silk in an important detail, but then choose a less expensive fabric elsewhere so that you may stay inside your budget.

Managing Sewing Mistakes

Mistakes are easier to correct than they would be in real sewing. If you mess up a seam, the seam ripper allows you take away the trouble area without ripping out every stitch by hand. You can also rectify poor pattern placement and get a fresh start without wasting another costly length of fabric.

Dressmaker slowly lets you spend your gathered resources and completed commissions on your own outfit. You can design your own, sew it and sell the finished product rather than always having to meet the needs of a client.
